Dog Bandanas
The Story of Our Bandanas
Over the years we’ve ordered thousands of vintage flannel shirts. Most of them are in perfect condition, but sometimes we receive flannel shirts that have most definitely had a rich life and because of their imperfections, they’re unusable, and consequently, in the past, they got tossed. It’s the absolute worst thing to throw out a shirt you just paid for and so we’ve been trying to come up with ways to use them. And then it happened…a friend said, “Why don’t you make dog bandanas from the unusable shirts.”
Fast forward to today…We wanted them to be special and different. We wanted them made in locally. We wanted them to be super soft and more than anything, we wanted a sustainable, non-wasteful company.
We hope you LOVE them as much as we do. They’re double-sided to give your pup two totally different looks. Some are solid on each side – others are patchwork. The colors complement each other, but never match. Each bandana is hand sewn by our designer/seamstress who lives in Nashville. She carefully cuts the shirts and creates the patterns and we’re literally left with almost no extra fabric. The scraps of fabric that are left over, are donated to quilters and they incorporate the squares into their designs.
And finally…we donate a portion of each bandana sale to a local animal rescue – Snooty Giggles. They take in senior or handicapped dogs and find them homes or give them a sanctuary to live out their days.
Thank you for supporting Franklin Flannels.
