I get asked all the time how to wear flannel when it's not winter and I love this question because I like to think I'm an expert at layering pieces throughout the year. Flannel is perfect for layering; in fact I encourage everyone to have fun and practice with it. Flannel is casual and it's meant to be a fun piece in your wardrobe. So the key here is to start playing. And yes...you can mix and match patterns.
Flannel is the perfect piece to wear over your bathing suit at the beach or on a lake. Wear it partially buttoned or open.
Because flannel is 100% cotton (did you know that?), it's not too hot and when the breeze picks up in the afternoon, your flannel shirt will come in very handy.
Or throw on a pair of jeans, a white tee and grab your favorite Franklin Flannels' shirt and head out.
You can belt a flannel for a cinched in look over a pair of dressier pants or wear it with a little lace peeking beneath. You have a lot of options. What I will say is please don't wear it buttoned up and tucked into pants with a belt. NO! This is not how we want to style our vintage, artistically reverse dyed Franklin Flannels.
